Setting Up Your SAS Session
Referencing Files in SAS Libraries

Defining Libraries

Often the first step in setting up your SAS session is to define the libraries. In Working in the SAS Environment, you learned to assign library names using SAS windows. You can also assign library names using programming statements.

Remember that to reference a SAS file, you

  1. assign a name (libref) to the SAS library where the file is stored
  2. use the libref as the first part of the file's two-level name (libref.filename) to reference the file within the library.
