Reading Raw Data
Submitting the DATA Step Program


After the raw data file is corrected, you can list the data again to see that it looks correct.

     proc print data=clinic.stress;

Whenever you read raw data using the DATA step, remember the steps that you followed in this lesson, which help ensure that you don't waste resources accessing data:
  • write the DATA step using the OBS= option in the INFILE statement
  • submit the DATA step
  • check the log for messages
  • view the resulting data set
  • remove the OBS= option and resubmit the DATA step
  • check the log again
  • view the resulting data set again.
