Enhancing HTML Tabular Reports
Adding Color to Table Cells

Changing the Box Cell

You've set the background color of the Laguardia table headings, but for visual consistency you should apply the same color to the cell in the upper-left corner. Known as the box cell, it is often left empty in tabular output.

At the end of the TABLE statement, add a slash (/) and the BOX= option. As the option value, specify the STYLE= expression you used for the headings. Enclose the entire STYLE= expression in braces.

General form, BOX= option:
BOX={STYLE={attribute-1=value
              <...attribute-n=value>
}}

For your Laguardia table, the BOX= option should use the STYLE= option to set a background of cxCCEEDD.

     box={style={background=cxCCEEDD}};
Your program and its output look as follows. (The text [BOX cell] has been added to the table for clarity.)

     ods listing close;
     ods html path='c:\data' body='laguard.html';
     title1 'Laguardia Flights by Destination';
     title2 'and Revenue, March 4-10';
     proc format;
        value $desname 'CPH'='Copenhagen'
                       'FRA'='Frankfurt'
                       'LON'='London'
                       'PAR'='Paris';
     run;
     proc tabulate data=flights.laguardia format=comma9.;
        class dest / style={background=cxCCEEDD};
        var boarded transferred deplaned revenue;
        table dest*(boarded transferred deplaned revenue),
              min max mean sum / box={style={background=cxCCEEDD}};
        keyword min max mean sum / style={background=cxCCEEDD};
        label dest='Destination';
        format dest $desname.;
     run;
     ods html close;
     ods listing;
